Roger Sherman

Roger, from Whitefish, is an active conservation enthusiast and political campaign volunteer. He's served on the Montana Wilderness Association state council, and presided as president of the MWA local chapter. He serves on the Headwaters Montana board.

Chris Saeger

Chris Saeger  |  MCV Board Director/Flathead Chapter Representative

Chris currently serves as Director of the Western Values Project, an organization that advocates for public lands in debates about resource development. He previously served as Communications Director at the Montana Department of Environmental Quality, and has held similar positions in political and issue advocacy campaigns throughout the West. Chris lives in Whitefish with his wife and son.

Jan Metzmaker

Jan Metzmaker  |  Director

Jan, Whitefish, has lived in Whitefish since 1972. Served on the Whitefish City Council on three different occasions, not to mention a host of committees. Jan has previously been Senator Baucus' field director and former ED of the Glacier Fund. She recently retired from her position as the Director of the Whitefish Convention and Visitor Bureau. Jan is married to Pete Metzmaker and has twin sons, Grant and Luke.

Steve Gnaidek

Steve Gnaidek  |  Director

Steve lives in Columbia Falls, served as wildlife management biologist in Glacier National Park from 1987-2009, and also worked as a wildlife management biologist for the Bureau of Land Management in Eastern Montana, as a seasonal biologist and naturalist in Yellowstone NP, and was a Peace Corps Volunteer in Colombia. Steve studied elk and cattle in the Gravelly Range of SW Montana for his Master's Degree in Wildlife Biology from the University of Montana. He has served on the board of the Flathead Audubon Society, and seeks a first term on the chapter board.

Dan Short

Dan Short  |  Director

Daniel, Kalispell, is a long time hunting, fishing, floating and hiking enthusiast. He is a financial advisor for Merrill Lynch, where he has worked for 12 years. Dan is involved in a number of conservation groups and is currently the Vice Chairperson of the State Council of Montana Trout Unlimited. He has participated in MCV's Flathead Chapter, has been active with MCV endorsement interviews, and has helped with candidate campaigns including meeting voters at their doors and helping with fundraising. He has two children and one grandson who he is teaching how to fish.

Rod McIver

Rod McIver  |  Director

Rod brings a lifetime of interest and career background in natural history, ecology, forestry, and agriculture to our organization. He has served as a board member for a number of conservation organizations over the past decade. He is currently a board member for Montana Conservation Voters. He is part of the Retired Smoke Jumpers Trail Crew and spends several weeks each summer rebuilding trails. He also volunteers as an assistant teacher in the Master Gardner's Program. He is excited to be involved as a board member and to contribute to the goals of CBF. Board member since 2007.

Nancy Woodruff

Nancy joined the MCV Flathead Chapter in 2015. She has been very involved in the Whitefish community. She has served as a City Councilor and Deputy Mayor and has been very involved in local climate action work. Her background is in computer programming and writing.

Margaret Roche

Margaret Roche  |  Director

Margaret works as a seed steward for The Good Seed Company, a distributor of heirloom & homestead garden seeds selected for their ability to thrive in Montana's short farming season. She is also in her fifth season as a farmhand for Purple Frog Gardens, a mixed vegetable, herb & fruit farm that has been integral in the local food movement of the Flathead Valley over the past 20 years. Margaret is passionate about the outdoors and feels very lucky to call the Flathead her home. Margaret is also a board member of the Whitefish Community Garden. She worked for Montana Conservation Voters helping to elect Steve Bullock to the Governor's office and re-elect Jon Tester to the US Senate both of which were successful.
