Volunteers needed to talk global warming at Montana Fair 2008
MCV is planning a booth in the Commercial building at Montana Fair from Friday, August 8 until Saturday, August 16.
Not only will this give us great exposure to possible new members and supporters, but we intend to gather signatures for our Global Warming Petition.
Solving global warming will put us at the forefront of the development of clean, renewable energy, reduce our dependence on foreign oil and bring high-paying jobs to Montana. MCV is urging our city and county officials, legislators, Governor, and U. S congressional delegation to take action by making energy conservation a priority and to get to work developing clean, renewable energy like wind, solar and biofuels in Montana. We will forward our signatures to our elected officials and show them the sheer numbers of Montanans interested in a solution.
In order to staff this event, we are looking for volunteers to work at the table for 3 hour shifts (longer if willing!) That means we hope for lots of help.
The Fair runs from 4 p.m. on Friday, August 8 until 11 p.m. and from noon until 11 p.m. until Saturday, August 16. We hope volunteers will be able to fill 32 three hour sessions for the 95 hours of the Fair. A staff person will try to be with anyone who will feel more comfortable with one of us around. Parking is free on a first-come basis. The commercial building is, mercifully, air conditioned and no one is expected to stand. So come help if you can - a whopping 243,000 people attended last year!
If you can help, please call Mike, Jim, or Joan @ 254-1593, or drop us an email with your availability.
