Chris Mehl

Commissioner Chris Mehl is running for mayor of Bozeman as a voice for responsible planning and growth and economic development. He is the Policy Director for Headwaters Economics, a Bozeman-based independent research group that works with communities to promote economic growth. As a member of the Bozeman Planning Board, Chris played a role in updating the city’s Growth Policy. Chris formerly worked for The Wilderness Society and worked for U.S. Rep. Lee Hamilton for 13 years. Chris and his wife, Laura Hoehn, enjoy hiking, skiing and Bozeman community events. Chris has been endorsed by MCV in his previous elections to the Bozeman City Commission. Chris faces Brian LaMeres in the November election who did not respond to MCV’s candidate questionnaire.

Terry Cunningham

Terry Cunningham is running for the Bozeman City Commission seeking to serve the community he loves. As the executive director of Run Dog Run, Terry’s worked with stakeholders to open six off-leash dog parks across Bozeman. Terry has also served as chair of the board of trustees for Bozeman Health and has been involved in the Bozeman Boulder Initiative to build rock climbing walls around town. Terry will be a leader on preserving open spaces, wildlife habitat, and smart growth development. Terry faces four other candidates in the November election and Bozeman voters will vote for two of the five candidates on their ballots.

Heide Arneson

Heide Arneson

Heide is running for the Bozeman City Commission for one of two at open seats. Heide currently teaches aviation weather at Gallatin College and is working on her master’s degree in higher education. She and her family live west of 19th, a portion of the community not currently represented on the City Commission. Serving Bozeman Public Schools has been a highlight in her life, providing experience in budgeting and local governance. Heide is excited to carry that experience forward in serving the citizens of Bozeman on the City Commission. She faces four other candidates in the November election and Bozeman voters will vote for two of the five candidates on their ballots.
