Conservation organization celebrates announcement for federal clean energy and climate investments
(HELENA, Mont.) – Today Montana Conservation Voters released the following statement from Executive Director Whitney Tawney in response to the announcement of the reconciliation agreement that includes $369 billion for clean energy security and climate:
“We are absolutely ecstatic to see this historic investment in clean energy to tackle climate change. This is an opportunity to create a better future for Montana, for America, and strengthen our climate resilience. We are hopeful the entire Montana delegation will recognize the smart investments for Montanans that will make true energy independence possible and urge them to support this legislation now.”
The reconciliation bill, titled Inflation Reduction Act of 2022, will be the “single largest climate investment in U.S. history.” The bill includes provisions to reduce carbon emissions by close to 40 percent by 2030. In addition to lowering energy costs for consumers, it invests heavily in decarbonizing all sectors of the economy. The full description of the clean energy and climate-specific provisions can be found here.
