After GOP’s Green Party scandal, MCV encourages true conservation candidates to seek nonpartisan endorsement regardless of their political party

(BILLINGS, Mont.) – Montana Conservation Voters, a nonpartisan organization, today released the following statement from Executive Director Aaron Murphy in response to news that the Montana Republican Party spent $100,000 to promote Green Party candidates, unaffiliated with the Green Party, in order to siphon votes away from actual conservation candidates:

“We encourage all conservation candidates, including those who claim to belong to the Green Party, to seek MCV’s nonpartisan endorsement. And we encourage all Montana voters who value clean air and water over swampy, partisan scandals like this to look for and support candidates who have earned MCV’s nonpartisan endorsement. All of our endorsed candidates are true conservation champions regardless of their political parties.”

MCV’s political action committee, the MCV Action Fund, does not consider party labels when making endorsement decisions and has endorsed candidates from both major political parties. Earning an MCV Action Fund endorsement involves a rigorous vetting process with the organizations independent board of directors.
