Washington, D.C. – The League of Conservation Voters (LCV) Action Fund, which works to elect candidates who will support sound conservation policies, announced today its endorsement of Kathleen Williams for Congress in Montana’s At-Large District.
“LCV Action Fund is proud to endorse Kathleen Williams because she is a lifelong champion for clean water and our public lands,” said LCV Action Fund Senior Vice President of Government Affairs Tiernan Sittenfeld. “Hunting and fishing on our public lands and waters are a valued way of life in Montana. Kathleen Williams’ vast experience as a natural resource expert and legislator make her uniquely experienced to hit the ground running in Congress to stand up for Montana’s air, water, and outdoor heritage. She is very clearly the only candidate who shares Montana’s conservation values and we are thrilled to endorse her in this critical race.”
“Kathleen Williams has a keen analytical mind, a thorough understanding of complex conservation issues, and a demonstrated successful track record of working across partisan lines to develop solutions that protect both our natural world and our communities,” said Montana Conservation Voters Interim Executive Director Rick Potts. “As U.S. Congresswoman, Kathleen will be a critical asset not only to Montana, but to our nation as well.”
“In Congress, I will work closely with all Montanans to protect the unrivaled outdoor spaces and natural heritage that make our state the Last Best Place,” said Williams. “Unlike my opponent, I won’t make decisions about our most precious places by legislative fiat in Washington. I will always be there for Montanans and the public lands we hold dear.”
Williams has dedicated her career to protecting our outdoors, particularly in water policy. She has worked in conservation in the public, non-profit, and private sectors. As a state legislator, she served on the Agriculture and Natural Resources Committees, where she was a leader on water policy issues and received a 100 percent score every session from Montana Conservation Voters. She was a lead negotiator in quantifying the water rights of the Confederated Salish and Kootenai Tribes, and served as Vice Chair of the Water Policy Interim Committee. In Congress, Williams will continue to be a champion for public lands and critical conservation protections.
