Fall fundraising campaign seeks to increase funding for statewide conservation efforts
(HELENA, Mont.) – Montana Conservation Voters is launching its CAMPFIRES FOR CONSERVATION campaign with a virtual kick-off event on Tuesday, October 5 at 6:00 pm. With high COVID-19 cases across Montana, MCV is pivoting away from an in-person gala and instead using the virtual event to kick off a fall membership campaign to raise funds for its conservation work.
MCV’s Kick-Off Campfire event will feature campfire stories, a campfire cocktail recipe class with Gulch Distillers and a special toast to MCV from U.S. Senator Jon Tester. “Montana Conservation Voters are fighting for everybody in the state of Montana to make sure we have a place to hike, fish, hunt, or whatever it might be,” said Senator Tester.
“We love how campfires represent gathering together with family and friends in an outdoor setting and taking a moment to reflect and relax,” said Whitney Tawney, the Executive Director of Montana Conservation Voters. “We are beyond grateful for the generosity of our sponsors and encourage anyone passionate about protecting Montana’s public lands, air and water and climate to become an MCV member and participate in this campaign.”
The month-long campaign is aiming to raise $40,000 by the end of October. MCV is challenging its members to match the $20,000 already committed by individual and business sponsors, including the League of Conservation Voters.
“The League of Conservation Voters is pleased to sponsor MCV and its CAMPFIRES FOR CONSERVATION campaign,” said Gene Karpinski, President of LCV. “MCV’s work electing pro-conservation candidates and holding elected officials accountable to protecting our climate and public lands make it a leader among conservation groups in the state, but they need support from Montanans who care about these issues. This campaign provides that opportunity and I urge everyone who is able to become a member.”
