(HELENA, Mont.) — Montana Conservation Voters (MCV) today released its 2025 Legislative Scorecard, a comprehensive report grading lawmakers on their votes during the 69th Montana Legislature on key conservation and democracy-related legislation.
The scorecard offers voters a clear, factual record of how each legislator voted on issues central to Montana’s way of life — including public lands, energy freedom, civic engagement, and judicial independence.
“This scorecard is about transparency,” said Renee Kelley, Interim Executive Director of MCV. “Montanans care deeply about protecting the landscapes and natural resources that define our state, and this report helps people see whether their elected officials are actually standing up for those values at the Capitol.”
The 2025 session saw a wave of proposals that tested Montana’s long-standing commitments to clean air, clean water, democracy, and open access to public lands. The scorecard details how lawmakers responded — whether they worked to protect Montana’s outdoor heritage or backed efforts to undermine it.
“Our job is to shine a light on decisions that affect every Montanan, not just the votes that made headlines,” Kelley continued. “This scorecard is a tool for accountability, helping voters see who’s really working to keep Montana a place where future generations can thrive.”
In addition to individual scores, the report includes analysis of key bills and deep dives into some of the most consequential legislative actions this session.
