Team MCV expands regional organizing efforts for long-term impact

(Bozeman, MT) – Montana Conservation Voters (MCV) is proud to announce the continuation of its grassroots organizing efforts with three dedicated field organizers who will play a critical role in MCV’s work during the 2025 legislature and beyond. Andrea Cubberley, Jesc Gallegos, and Lindsay Wancour have been leading field teams in Bozeman, Billings, and Missoula, and will continue to empower local communities across the state to advocate for policies that will protect Montana’s iconic natural resources.

With the 2024 election cycle behind us, MCV’s regional organizers will focus on strengthening the organization’s grassroots network, engaging Montanans in policy advocacy, and mobilizing communities to protect the state’s public lands, clean air and clean water.

“Team MCV is thrilled to continue working with Andrea, Jesc, and Lindsay,” said MCV Executive Director Whitney Tawney. “Each of them brings deep experience, passion and unique perspective to our mission. They have already proven to be invaluable leaders in the field, and I have no doubt that their work will be pivotal as we approach the 2025 legislative session and beyond.”

Meet MCV’s Regional Organizers:

Andrea Cubberley (Bozeman)

Andrea joined MCV in 2023, bringing a wealth of experience in conservation and youth engagement. A Montana State University graduate with a degree in Conservation Biology and Ecology, Andrea’s passion for public lands was ignited when she first saw the Rocky Mountains in 2016. Before joining MCV, she worked as a backbacking guide in Yellowstone National Park, where she led youth groups on educational backcountry adventures.

Now pursuing a Master’s in Science Education at MSU, Andrea is committed to fostering a new generation of environmental advocates.

“Montana’s public lands are part of what makes this state so special,” Andrea said. “I’m excited to help others connect with nature and fight for policies that protect our outdoor heritage for future generations.”

Lindsay Wancour (Missoula)
Lindsay brings a diverse skill set in science, policy, and community organizing to MCV. She holds a  Master’s in Environmental Studies from the University of Montana and is currently pursuing an MBA. Lindsay’s background includes serving as a Science and Democracy Fellow for the Union of Concerned Scientists and serving as Vice Chair of the Society for Conservation Biology’s Participatory and Citizen Science Working Group.

Lindsay is driven by a belief in the power of civic engagement to shape conservation policy.

“MCV has been a trusted source of information for me for years, and I am thrilled to now be part of the team that helps advance conservation policy across Montana,” Lindsay said. “I look forward to engaging with Montanans and helping them become more active in shaping the future of our public lands, water, and air.”

Jesc Gallegos (Billings)
Jesc’s journey to activism began at age 13, when her mom took her to her first protest. Since then, Jesc has been a passionate advocate for justice and community empowerment.

Jesc is excited to continue her work with MCV, helping to expand the organization’s reach and mobilize communities.

“I believe every voice matters, and when we work together, we can create the change we want to see,” Jesc said. “I’m honored to join MCV and help lead efforts to protect our environment and hold our elected officials accountable.”

A Long-Term Commitment to Montana’s Future

MCV’s expanded regional organizing program is designed to build a robust and engaged volunteer network, mobilize communities around key conservation issues, and advocate for lasting protections for Montana’s natural resources. By maintaining a strong grassroots presence, MCV is building a foundation for lasting, long-term impact.

“As we prepare for the 2025 legislative session, MCV is focused on empowering local communities to take action, build momentum, and advocate for policies that will protect our way of life in Montana,” Tawney said. “With Andrea, Jesc and Lindsay leading the charge, we’re confident that our grassroots efforts will grow even stronger and have a lasting impact.”
