MCV blasts White House’s rollback of mileage efficiency and pollution protection

(BILLINGS, Mont.) – Montana Conservation Voters released the following statement from Executive Director Aaron Murphy in response to today’s plan by the White House to weaken vehicle fuel efficiency targets, and to the recent directive by the Environmental Protection Agency to suspend pollution monitoring—citing the coronavirus pandemic:

“All Montanans should be concerned that their government is sneaking through rollbacks to allow dirty air and water. Using a global health crisis as an excuse is not only ironic, it’s flat out wrong. We urge all of our members to remind our elected leaders that the White House doesn’t have license to take us backwards with more harmful health decisions as we fight a pandemic.”

MCV will remain vigilant in educating all Montanans about important developments concerning Montana’s clean air, clean water and public lands through the ongoing coronavirus crisis.
