Governor-Elect Gianforte names ‘disappointing’ FWP transition team
(BOZEMAN, Mont.) — Montana Conservation Voters released the following statement from Political Director Jake Brown in response to Governor-Elect Greg Gianforte’s controversial transition team for the Montana Department of Fish, Wildlife and Parks:
“FWP is tasked with protecting Montana’s public lands and wildlife, which is why it’s exceptionally disappointing to see Governor-Elect Gianforte’s transition team include public lands foes who value wealthy and politically connected landowners over everyday Montanans. MCV will be paying close attention during the upcoming legislative session and will fight any attack on our public lands or wildlife.”
FWP is an agency in Montana’s executive branch responsible for protecting wildlife and state-owned park resources in Montana for the purpose of recreational activities.
Supported by access to public lands, Montana’s outdoor recreation economy sustains 71,000 Montana jobs and generates more than $7 billion in economic activity in Montana each year.
