MCV Praises Stone-Manning’s Confirmation, Calls Out Daines’ No Vote

Montanan and Public Servant, Stone-Manning, Confirmed as Director of Bureau of Land Management

(BOZEMAN, Mont.) – Montana Conservation Voters released the following statement from Executive Director Whitney Tawney in response to Tracy Stone-Manning’s U.S. Senate confirmation vote to lead the Bureau of Land Management and Senator Steve Daines’ no vote for fellow Montanan:

“Montana is celebrating one of its own today. Director Tracy Stone-Manning’s confirmation is long-overdue but more welcome than ever as we need proven leaders and Montana commonsense in DC. It’s a disgrace that Montana’s junior Senator Steve Daines couldn’t put his constituents ahead of his partisan and dishonest agenda. Tracy supports Montanans and the public lands we rely on, two things Senator Daines has never fully understood.”

Last year, Senator Daines came under fire for his support of then-President Donald Trump’s controversial nominee for the BLM, William Perry Pendley, who was a proponent of selling federal lands. Stone-Manning has over thirty years of experience in public service and conservation. She has a broad range of support from Montanans who have worked with her on important and difficult issues throughout her time working for Montanans at the state and federal level. Her confirmation is a big step forward for the BLM after over four years without a confirmed director.
