MCV Questions Daines/Rosendale Opposition to Montana Jobs and Economic Growth “Rally”

Conservation group condemns Members’ media charade amidst the need for legislative action

(BOZEMAN, Mont.) –– The Montana Conservation Voters released the following statement from Executive Director Whitney Tawney in response to the “Stop the Spending Spree” rally to be held by Junior Senator Steve Daines and Representative Matt Rosendale tonight in Bozeman:

“Why Senator Daines and Representative Rosendale are choosing to spend their time grandstanding on inaccurate soundbites and opposing a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to invest in Montana’s economy, jobs, clean energy and infrastructure is baffling. We urge them to get back to work for Montana, not the cameras.”

The “rally” is hosted by the Gallatin County Republicans at the Gallatin County Courthouse. The event is a response to the bipartisan infrastructure bill and Build Back Better reconciliation package to invest in America’s physical and social infrastructure. The bipartisan infrastructure bill includes billions of dollars for Montana including funding for water infrastructure projects, programs to mitigate wildfires, and a project to rehabilitate the Milk River, among many others. The bill passed the Senate in August and awaits a House vote as Members work through the details of the Build Back Better Act. A vote in the House on both bills has not been set.
