MCV: ‘Montanans deserve politicians that work for them’

Conservation Organization Expresses Deep Concerns with New Congressional Map Favoring One Political Party

(BOZEMAN Mont.) – Montana Conservation Voters released the following statement from Executive Director Whitney Tawney in response to the Montana Redistricting and Apportionment Commission Chairwoman Maylinn Smith’s decision to advance CP 12, which unduly favors one political party:

“We’re disappointed to see Chairwoman Smith choose a map that’s far less competitive than Montanans and our outdoor legacy deserves. Montanans want politicians who work for them, not party bosses. The CP 12 map, in its current form, gives one political party far too much ability to choose who represents half of Montanans in Congress for the next ten years.”

The Redistricting Commission will meet again on November 9, where they will have their final vote to adopt Montana’s new congressional districts.
