MCV praises Martha Williams’ confirmation as the new Director of the U.S. Fish & Wildlife Service

(BOZEMAN, Mont.) – Montana Conservation Voters released the following statement from Executive Director Whitney Tawney in response to Martha Williams’ U.S. Senate confirmation vote to lead the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service (USFWS):

“Director Martha Williams is a proven leader and steward of our public lands and wildlife. We know she has what it takes to lead the nation’s top wildlife agency. We’re proud a Montanan is taking the reins to ensure conservation values are a top priority for the Biden Administration.”

The Biden Administration nominated Williams in October 2021. Earlier this year, she was voted out of the U.S. Senate Committee on Environment and Public Works with bipartisan support.  Over the last year, Williams has served as the Principal Deputy Director of the USFWS. She previously led the Montana Department of Fish, Wildlife and Parks from 2017 to 2020.
