MCV appoints Interim Executive Director amid ongoing search

(HELENA, Mont.) – Montana Conservation Voters (MCV) and the MCV Education Fund announced today the appointment of Renee Kelley, currently serving as Operations Director, as Interim Executive Director, effective June 7, 2025. This leadership transition will provide continuity and stability as MCV continues its comprehensive search for a permanent Executive Director.

“Renee’s leadership and understanding of our mission and operations make her exceptionally well-suited to guide MCV during this transition,” said Sally Ericsson, Chair of MCV’s Board of Directors. “We’re confident in our ability to continue advancing our work with clarity, integrity, and strength.”

Kelley brings extensive operational expertise and a strong commitment to MCV’s mission. Since joining the organization in May 2022, she has led key improvements to its administrative, financial, and operational systems – helping MCV double in size and expand its field presence across Montana.

“I’m honored to lend a steady hand during this transition and continue supporting our incredible team at MCV,” said Kelley. “I’m deeply proud of the work we do every day to protect Montana’s vast landscapes and democracy, and I’m committed to maintaining our momentum as the Board continues its thorough search for our next Executive Director.”

With over 12 years of public sector experience in Montana, Kelley previously held roles with the Montana Board of Land Commissioners and the Department of Natural Resources & Conservation. She holds undergraduate degrees in History and Music from the University of Portland and a Master of Public Administration from the University of Montana. Kelley lives in Helena with her family.

The Board of Directors continues an active and deliberate search to identify a permanent Executive Director who aligns MCV’s mission, values and long-term vision.

“Our goal is to find the right leader to guide MCV into its next chapter,” said Jock Conyngham, Chair of the MCV Education Fund’s Board. “We’re committed to a thoughtful and inclusive process — one that honors our staff, community, and mission. In the meantime, Renee’s deep institutional knowledge and guidance will help sustain our momentum.”
