(HELENA, Mont.) – Montana Conservation Voters (MCV) and the MCV Education Fund today announced the appointment of Ben Super as Executive Director, effective September 2, 2025. Super joins MCV with a strong record in conservation leadership, community engagement, and nonprofit management, and will lead the organization into its next chapter of impact and growth.
“Ben’s vision, strategic thinking, and deep commitment to Montana’s people and landscapes make him the ideal leader,” said Sally Ericsson, Chair of MCV’s Board of Directors. “He brings the experience and energy we need to expand our reach, strengthen our partnerships, and keep Montana’s democracy and environment thriving for generations to come.”
Born in Rapid City, South Dakota, and raised in the suburbs of Washington, D.C., Super moved to Montana in 1997 with a one-way ticket to Missoula to attend the University of Montana. He received an Army Reserve Officers’ Training Corps scholarship and earned a degree in forestry before serving five years on active duty as an officer in the U.S. Army, including two tours in Iraq.
After returning to Missoula in 2006, Super worked for the Montana Department of Natural Resources before joining the University of Montana Foundation as Director of Development for the W.A. Franke College of Forestry and Conservation. For Super, leading MCV is a homecoming — an opportunity to serve Montana’s landscapes, communities, and democratic values in a way that reflects both his professional expertise and personal passion. His conservation ethic is deeply rooted in a lifetime spent outdoors. The son of a Wyoming farm family and father to a future sixth-generation Helmville, Montana ranch shareholder, he views conservation as both a way of life and a responsibility.
“Ben’s story is truly a Montana story — shaped by our landscapes, strengthened by service, and driven by a commitment to community,” said Jock Conyngham, Chair of the MCV Education Fund’s Board. “We’re thrilled to welcome him to the helm and look forward to working alongside him to protect Montana’s land, water, wildlife, and democracy.”
Super steps into the role following a nationwide search and brings a passion for connecting Montanans to the decisions that shape their future. His leadership will focus on strengthening MCV’s statewide network, advancing pro-conservation policies, and ensuring every Montanan has a voice in protecting the natural resources on which our state’s economy and heritage is rooted.
“I’m honored to join MCV at such an important time,” said Super. “Montana’s landscapes, communities, and democratic traditions are under attack and I will stand with our staff, board, and supporters to defend them, build on MCV’s legacy, and secure a strong future for generations to come.”
