MCV Action Fund will always ‘demand transparency and accountability’

Organization praises Supreme Court ruling rejecting GOP’s Green Party shenanigans

(BILLINGS, Mont.) – The Montana Conservation Voters Action Fund today released the following statement from executive director Aaron Murphy in response to the Montana Supreme Court’s decision to keep Green Party candidates of the November 3 ballot:

“The Montana GOP tried to cheat democracy with an offsides play, and today the Montana Supreme Court cried foul. Montana voters deserve political leaders who don’t cheat their way to wins, and we will never hesitate to demand transparency and accountability in our elections.”

In a 5-2 ruling, the Montana Supreme Court upheld an August 7 ruling by Judge James Reynolds to remove Green Party candidates from the ballot. The decision followed news that the Montana Republican Party spent $100,000 to qualify the Green Party, in an apparent effort to siphon votes away from conservation candidates.

Only one Green Party candidate sought an endorsement from the Montana Conservation Voters Action Fund.
