MCV endorses Judge Amy Eddy for Montana Supreme Court

(Helena Mont.) — Montana Conservation Voters (MCV) today announced its endorsement of Amy Eddy for the Montana Supreme Court, citing her strong commitment to upholding the Montana Constitution for the benefit of all Montanans.

Judge Eddy has served on the Eleventh Judicial District Court of Montana since 2015, where she has built a reputation for fairness, independence, and respect for the rule of law. Throughout her legal career, she has demonstrated a principled dedication to the Constitution and the liberties that shape life in Montana.

“Montanans deserve a Supreme Court justice who understands our state Constitution protects not only our rights and freedoms, but also the landscapes and natural resources that define life in our state,” said Executive Director Ben Super. “Judge Eddy has demonstrated the independence, integrity, and deep respect for the rule of law Montanans expect from their highest court. We’re proud to support her and confident she will uphold the constitutional rights that protect our communities.”

At a time when the decisions of the Montana Supreme Court have profound implications for Montana’s environment, democratic institutions, and the rights of everyday people, it is critical that voters elect justices who will approach the law with independence and a clear commitment to justice.

Judge Eddy’s record on the bench reflects a deep understanding of the judiciary’s role in upholding constitutional protections and ensuring the law is applied fairly to all Montanans.

“The right to a clean and healthful environment is not just a policy preference. It’s fundamental and foundational. It belongs to the people and it is ours, and was not included as an accident,” Judge Eddy said of the Montana Constitution. “When Montana constitutionalised environmental protections, it did so with the understanding that courts would serve as a forum where those rights were taken seriously, interpreted faithfully, and enforced when necessary.”

Montana Conservation Voters is a statewide non-partisan organization that works to protect Montana’s natural resources and outdoor way of life, while defending the democratic values that allow communities to shape their future. Endorsement entails comprehensive review of candidates’ dedication to and experience with conservation issues. MCV’s affiliated political action committee, the MCV Action Fund, then reviews this information to determine who best represents MCV’s mission and vision. Last year, 21 of 25 MCV-endorsed candidates won races across Montana.
