How to Register to Vote

First are you:

  • Be 18 years old or older on or before the next election?
  • Be a citizen of the United States?
  • Have lived in Montana for at least 30 days?

If yes to all, great! Here are three ways to register:

1. Visit your local election office Monday through Friday (8:00 am – 5:00 pm) and complete a registration form. You can still register to vote in-person on Election Day. Just be in line by 8:00 pm on November 8.

2. Complete and sign the voter registration application and drop it off at your county election office, or mail it to the county election administrator.

3. Fill out and sign a registration form when you apply for or renew your driver’s license or Montana ID.

Rember you’ll need to provide a valid form of identification and provide proof of your current residence!

Getting Your Ballot

The easiest way to get your ballot is to sign up to vote absentee. Your ballot will come to you in your mailbox.

Ballots Mailed Out to Voters:

  • April 13, 2022 – School Board Election
  • May 13, 2022  – Primary Election
  • October 14, 2022  – General Election

From there you can mail your ballot back or drop it off in person. Reminder! Your ballot must be returned by 8:00 pm on Election Day (those postmarked on Election Day will not be accepted). It’s always a good rule of thumb to mail in your ballot at least five business days before the election.

You can sign up to request an absentee ballot by completing and returning this form to your local election office. You can always track your ballot status at My Voter Page

Rather Vote In Person?

You can go to your polling station starting at 7:00 am on Election Day and polls close at 8:00 pm. You can still vote as long as you’re in line at the polls by 8:00 pm!

Find your polling location on your My Voter Page
